Support local youth and do spring cleaning!

We are thrilled to be partnering up with the Echo Park’s Central City Action Committee (CCAC) to help raise funds and spread the word about the nonprofit’s programs. The CCAC provides both social services to the youth and runs the graffiti abatement program in the area. By providing paid work for local minority youth, they are also providing job experience and after school activities. The money they earn helps those high school students participate in things they wouldn’t normally be able to afford, like sports activities, prom, senior pictures and more. Last year, they removed over 200,000 square feet of graffiti.

There will be a lot of opportunities to learn more about the CCAC in the near future – like next week! The nonprofit is holding its regular Rummage Sale on Monday and Tuesday, April 14 and 15, from 10:30 am – 5:30 pm at 534 East Edgeware Road in Echo Park.

All proceeds go to the youth programs, and all items sold at the rummage sales are donated. Now is great chance for you to do some spring cleaning and donate your unused items to a wonderful organization.

Donations can be dropped off at the CCAC any time Monday through Friday from noon – 4:00 pm. If you need assistance getting large or bulky items to the location, just let us know!

Represented Buyer

This is a great example of how it pays to work with an experienced Realtor. This property would easily be more than twice the cost in other higher-priced neighborhoods of Northeast Los Angeles, but it has a great location in nearby University Hills.

We've explored a lot of communities as alternatives to our focus area, and University Hills is proving to be a great one!

Ask a Realtor: Are web estimates reliable?

Q: Are web estimates reliable?

ask-darren-web-estimates

ask-darren-web-estimates

A: If you have no intention of buying or selling they are a reliable source of entertainment. Northeast Los Angeles is one of the most difficult areas in the city to appraise properties. There are two basic reasons for this: first, those who buy here place real value on design, but appraisers only see a 3 bedroom / 2 bath house; second, the housing stock varies so much in terms of layout, geography, architectural style, proximity to commercial entities and many more factors. Not only are web values not accurate, but appraisers that are used to working in the suburbs have no idea how to acquire accurate values.

As the days go by, the only real trend we're seeing in the Northeast Los Angeles real estate market is that things are staying steady. Most notably, there are nine fewer sold properties and five more in total inventory. That about sums it up!
